Weekend Schedule

In October 2021, Regina and Billy met the way all great modern love stories begin - at a German beer hall in Brooklyn. Legend has it (according to Billy) that Regina was throwing flirty glances his way across Spritzenhaus for what felt like hours before he finally joined her for a beer and a chat. The two immediately bonded over their shared love for Mexico City - Regina’s hometown and Billy’s favorite destination. The early days included:♥︎ Regina crushing Billy at billiards (he’s still recovering).♥︎ Billy serenading Regina with Radiohead’s Creep (surprisingly romantic).♥︎ Long talks about dreams, travel, and their close-knit families. Once officially a couple, they dove into life together - traveling the world, bonding with each other’s friends and family, and even adopting a fiddle-leaf fig named Sheila. By May 2023, the trio (yes, Sheila included) moved into their beautiful Park Slope apartment. Sheila hit 8.5 feet, and Regina and Billy built a warm home full of art, music, and the occasional argument about where to put Billy’s bobble-head of himself. Then came their road trip through Italy in September 2024. Billy, ever the dramatic performer, kicked off a speech that definitely sounded like a breakup, just to throw Regina off the scent (mission accomplished.) But what came next was a heartfelt proposal and lots of happy tears on the Italian coast. Now, after years of being in love and growing a life grounded in family and friends and art and joy, they’re inviting you to join them for the next chapter - in none other than Mexico City, the place where their love story was first written in the stars and now comes full circle.

It all started with a beer... and some serious side-eye.

Our Story

Mexico City has many accommodation options and you're welcome to choose whatever works best for you. We have open room blocks at recommended hotels below and we ourselves will be staying at the Camino Real in Polanco. Buses will pick up and drop off at these hotels on our wedding day, so for your convenience, you may want to stay at or nearby one of these options. Airbnbs are also plentiful and we usually stay at Airbnbs in Roma Norte or Condesa when we visit. Roma Norte and Condesa are a little less curated than Polanco but more walkable. As with Airbnbs anywhere, the quality varies widely and things like water pressure aren't always the best so you'll have to use your judgement if you choose an Airbnb.

This is where we'll be staying with family! The Camino Real Polanco was built for the 1968 Summer Olympics. It was designed by famous architect, Ricardo Legorreta, combining modern Mexican features with pre-Hispanic influences.&nbsp; This hotel is special to us as Regina's parents had their wedding reception here in 1989! Accommodations

Wedding Day Transportation Transportation will be provided to and from the recommended hotels on the Wedding Day. If you choose to stay elsewhere, plan to arrive at the pickup locations prior to departure times. More information will be provided closer to the wedding date but plan to get to one of the hotels by 1:30 if will be using transportation provided.&nbsp;

Airport Transportation and Getting Around The City We recommend using Uber to get to and from the airport and most destinations in the city. Uber in Mexico City is reliable, easy to use, and very affordable. Once you’ve arrived at your accommodations, many popular neighborhoods—like Roma, Condesa, and Polanco—are wonderfully walkable, with plenty of cafés, shops, and parks to explore on foot. If you prefer a taxi, use only the official airport taxi stands when arriving at the airport, or book through a trusted taxi app. We don’t recommend hailing taxis from the street, as they may not be licensed—booking ahead is the best way to ensure a smooth and safe ride.

Mexico City Art Week

Mexico City has some of the most and best museums in the entire world, ranging from large art and cultural museums to smaller more intimate museums in artists' original studios such as the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum.

Frida Kahlo Museum

Chapultapec is the second largest park in Latin America and twice the size Central Park in NYC. Take in the natural landscape by foot or visit one of the attractions including museums and the Chapultepec Castle.

Bosque de Chapultepec

Located within Chapultepec Park, Chapultepec Castle was originally constructed for the viceroy of new Spain and was subsequently the residence of an emperor and a series of presidents. Take in the history, sweeping views of the park, and museum within the castle.

Casa Pedregal is one of iconic Mexican architect Luis Barragan's most renowned buildings, and was originally commissioned for Regina's visionary great grandparents! You can book tours in advance by reaching out to <a href="mailto: visitas@casapedregal.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">visitas@casapedregal.com</a> and grab a bite next door at Tetetlán, originally the home and store of a relative. A few of the other homes Barragan built throughout the city are also open for tours.

One hour from Mexico City, the prehispanic city of Teotihuacan was one of the first major cities in the Western Hemisphere and boasts one of the tallest and oldest standing pyramids in the Americas. The site can be viewed on foot or hot air balloon and is a perfect day trip if you have extra time.

The National Museum of Anthropology is&nbsp;one of the most important museums in the world dedicated to Mesoamerican cultures, housing a vast collection of artifacts from pre-Hispanic civilizations to today. The museum is a must-see for anyone interested in Mexican history and anthropology.

Known for its network of canals and floating gardens, remnants of the ancient Aztec civilization.&nbsp;Visitors can explore the canals on colorful, flat-bottomed boats called trajineras, enjoying food, drinks, music, and a lively atmosphere.&nbsp;Xochimilco is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its unique cultural and historical significance. Perfect for an early morning sunrise or afternoon of fun!
